Objectives


The objectives of OFDC are including: (1) facilitation of fisheries cooperation; (2) striving for fishing rights and interests in international fora; (3) providing assistance to fishermen and fishing vessels in the cases of detention, fisheries disputes and marine distress in overseas region, and; (4) undertaking assignments that are commissioned by the government, such as fisheries statistics, observers, VMS. Under these objectives, the missions of OFDC are the followings:
 

  • Conduct research, planning, evaluation, facilitation and negotiation of overseas fisheries cooperation.
  • Provide consulting services on reaching overseas fisheries cooperation.
  • Provide legal and financial assistance to fishermen and fishing vessels in the cases of detention, fisheries disputes and marine distress in overseas region.
  • Collect and categorize fisheries statistics; provide both domestic and international information on general fisheries statistics, laws and regulations, and industry activities to the public through the information network service.
  • Planning, implementation and promotion of the VMS.
  • Undertake fisheries related assignment as commissioned by the government.
